so, just when you thought that traveling by bus in south america was tough enough (ya know, being dehydrated b/c you can´t drink b/c you can´t get to a bathroom for hours, and worrying about your pack being stolen from beneath the bus, and having to listen to solicitors scream about their gum or chocolate or health pills, and having a horrible movie played on the tv screen above you w- the volume up so high you can feel it shaking your seat, and all the while the radio is playing in the background, if you can call it the background, and the fumes from the traffic are so strong that you could choke, and the bumpy curving roads make you sure that you´ll fly over one of the steep ravines to your death) you get the driver from hell!
he was on a mission and was driving like a lunatic today! we were flying around curves at top speed in the WRONG lane w- no visibility. he actually smashed into a large truck going around a turn, and didn´t even stop! i watched it all out the front window and the scraping sound was horrible. i thought we would all fly off the side of the mountain, but no. he just laughed and kept going.
i´m glad to be alive! we made it into Peru today. the border crossing was no small task either. whew! more later. ciao!
