back home - happy and tired

Our trip to China was amazing! We were in six cities (from Beijing to Fuzhou) over three weeks and spent time w/ old friends, new friends, students and their families.
The teachers group tour was packed and covered lots. Hanging out in Shanghai w/ good friends was fun too. Our time in Fuzhou could have been filmed and used to make a great movie. I'll write more about this later. There were no other foreigners there - it was wonderful!
J and I took a combined 2,300+ photos and will sift through them and post a few some time this week. We have some good stories to tell. :)

Some things I'm noticing about being back:
my apt. is big!
folks aren't spitting or peeing in public
people are large here (i notice this pretty much every time i come home from travels overseas)
no one is staring at me or following me down the street to take my picture
i keep on checking signs and posters for funny mistranslated words and phrases, but i'm not finding any
no one is bumping into or stepping on me
the food is not as yummy
i'm not sweating at all, what's up w/ that?!
it's easy to cross the street on foot
i can't find bottled milk tea or hairy fish in a bag to snack on (i'll only miss one of those)
the air is very clean and i often forget to appreciate this
there's no such thing as bad traffic in my city
i can't talk in English and expect those around me not to understand it, better be careful
there are not as many scents here, or maybe they're just not as strong
i feel short once again

For now, I'm tired (and yet up past 1 am - ahhh, jet lag!) and hoping to rest up in the next several days. It's good to be home again.
