What a way to end the summer! :)

Where to begin to sum up this last long weekend of summer? It was packed with family, friends, fun and the great outdoors! Well, let me start a little bit further back.

Last Wednesday J and I drove down to Canandaigua to spend the evening w/ my Aunt and Uncle who live there in the summer time. We took a boat ride together to and from dinner on the other side of the lake from their home. It was a perfect night and so nice to catch up with them. Our visit was looong overdue.

Friday night J cooked me a delicious dinner and then we went to watch his sister play a soccer game at Roberts. As it turned out some of his family members who couldn't attend the game were watching and listening to it online and they heard J shouting to cheer his sister on. They called him at the game to tell him. Funny!

Saturday we went kayaking w/ a friend up near Hilton at Braddock Bay. It was very pretty there. We saw several herons, an egret, some turtles and fish. Nice to be out on the water again. Weather was perfect.

Sunday we drove down to Canandaigua again but this time w/ my Dad for an afternoon of fishing from his boat. J netted a pretty good sized lake trout. We swam in the clear water and enjoyed the sunshine again. Dinner was nice down in Naples and it was good to spend time w/ my Dad.

From here we drove to a beautiful State Forest called Slader Creek. We drove into the woods and then hiked a short way with our packs before finding the perfect tenting location. We saw deer, turkey, chipmunks and many birds. Even built a small fire for marshmallows. Yummy! :) The stars were amazing. Not sure if I've ever seen quite so many.

On Monday morning we headed north to visit the Abbey of the Genesee. I just love it there. We spent time in the chapel, bread shop, book store, and on the trails. Another gorgeous weather day. We were home in the early afternoon and had just enough time for a bike ride to a local park.

What a fabulous last few days! The weather couldn't have been better, and I don't think I could have asked for anything more. :)
