This is one of my favorite places. It's so peaceful and lovely. The Monk's bread you can buy at Wegmans (or where ever) is made right here by the monks who live at this abbey in Piffard (near Geneseo). They have a nice bread shop on the premises with brownies and cake and other goodies too. They have a neat little book store and nice trails. You can even attend some of the services in their chapel.

Thanks for the gorgeous pics to remind us of such a glorious place! I can just imagine the wonderful smell of the chapel, and the sound of the monks chanting the psalms . . .
Yes, the chapel has that deep and wonderful smell of wood. You can hear it creaking and moaning through the silence. We could hear the chirp of insects too from inside. Their sound was magnified somehow. Very cool.
