our inventory of restrooms

i was very excited over a large and clean bathroom in one of our hostals. i'm showing off the t.p. that was folded into a triangle for us - fancy! i think this was our nicest restroom (i'll spare you photos of the worst) the whole trip. ---->

Susan and I have become pretty good at evaluating bathrooms while on this adventure in South America. this may sound a little silly, but if you had to use public restrooms (of varying quality) for a month you might work a system out too.

if we´re at a bus station, for example, and i go first, (she stays on the bus w- our valuables, and to ensure that the bus doesn´t leave) i return and as we walk past each other i give her the scoop. this could sound like: " wet floor, no paper, doesn´t flush, no seat, no soap, 1.5 soles" or it could be a happy, " dry floor, paper, flushes, soap and water, hand towel, free", if we 're in a nice restaurant.

i realize that the second bathroom user, is soon going to find out the situation anyhow, but there´s some comfort in knowing what it´ll be like, even a few moments before entering. it´s an entertaining game, if nothing else. and you have no idea how excited we each can be over a nice, clean bathroom! :)

please appreciate your bathroom (w- running water, soap, paper, and a toilet seat) today for me.

Thanks for the reminder! I appreciate working bathrooms more since I came home one night at 11:00 and mine didn't work.
