~snaps show Aguas Refrescantes church and some of the congregation there. What fun to reconnect w/ two women who were friends of mine four years ago. Rosita and Jacqueline are on the far left. :)
Can I just say that four years later, I still love this little coastal town! What a treasure to have spent the weekend there. It was such fun to surprise friends who thought they´de never see me again. We had such joyous reunions. :) I walked all over Bahia and was flooded w- memories from the summer of 2002. I had some favorite spots in my mind and revisited all the places that I could in just one long weekend.
Some highlights: (don´t worry, i´ll never again compose a blog as long as that last one.)
my trip to the market on Sat. morning - so colorful and lively!
choosing flowers for Dona Elsa and giving them to her - she was so pleased :)
helado de menta (amazing homemade mint icecream) - ate lots of this
the sound of the ocean waves
surprising my church family there by showing up at the service w/o warning
catching up w- Dona Elsa and Don Pablo (in photo above)
hot(tish) showers
great homemade soup eaten w/ family folks there
fast(er) internet service available
being able to walk down any street in the town at night alone while feeling/being safe
the quaint feeling of this small coastal town
What a blessing to be able to visit a spot that I cherish so. Of course, when leaving, I was wishing for more time there, but now I´m in Quito (after an 8! hour travel day) and that´s a whole other place. Tomorrow I´ll fly out of Quito and be home on Wednesday. I can´t believe that my trip is nearly over. It has flown by.
